VITA Training Dates | Free Tax Prep Sites
The Campaign for Working Families is changing people’s lives by giving low to moderate income families the tools they need to help their families gain financial stability they need to ensure a quality life for themselves and their children.
The coalition was started in 2004 thanks to a grant from the Annie E. Casey Foundation. By bringing together community leaders, nonprofits and businesses the Campaign for Working Families is creating lasting change and prosperity to hundreds of families each year.
Our Goals
EARN IT—To increase the resources available to the working poor, primarily through providing free tax preparation.
KEEP IT—To provide free financial education classes to build assets and become financially secure.
SAVE IT—Encourage saving, as part of
people’s everyday lives.
Free Income Tax Preparation
The Campaign has provided free income tax preparation in Volusia and Flagler Counties over the last four years. IRS certified volunteers are trained to identify taxpayer’s eligibility for federal tax credits and to help low-to-moderate income workers file accurate tax returns.
Many taxpayers who are eligible for free tax preparation also are eligible for the EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit). EITC is one of the best anti-poverty programs offered by the federal government.
Over $6 million of EITC money goes unclaimed in Volusia/Flagler each year. Free Tax Sites are open from January thru April each year. For locations, days and times, call 2-1-1. |
