  The Volunteer Center

The United Way's Volunteer Center is one of Volusia and Flagler Counties’ largest resources devoted solely to the promotion and nurturing of volunteerism and community service. Working within the community since 1977, the Volunteer Center plays an integral role in United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties’ mission to increase the organized capacity of our community to care for its people.

The Volunteer Center recruits, develops, places and recognizes volunteers for hundreds of nonprofit organizations and agencies community wide. Based on your skills, interests and time restraints, we can help individuals, students, families, community organizations and businesses find a volunteering opportunity to match you with. The Volunteer Center works to provide nonprofit agencies with volunteers to fulfill their organization’s goals and needs.

Along with daily recruitment and placement of volunteers in our community, the Volunteer Center sponsors two major events every year. The Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Awards luncheon, held in April, recognizes and honors the efforts of volunteers in our community. In October, Make A Difference Day activities in Volusia and Flagler Counties are organized by the Volunteer Center.

"Everyone has a strength to share.  Often it is a skill or talent they've come to take for granted, but one that can make a difference in the life of somebody else if properly deployed"

Bill Shore, The Cathedral Within

The best part is, we can easily work around your schedule and your preferences to ensure you are involved with something you will enjoy.

 3. What does volunteering really do?

 4. What kinds of volunteering are there?

There are literally hundreds of ways to volunteer. You will be asked specific questions about the kind of work you would like to do, the groups you would like most to work with, and other info. You can also opt for a one-time volunteering or ongoing volunteering, whichever one works best for you.
